ABOUT US

We are a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit group in Calhoun County, Alabama with a passion for animal welfare.  Our mission is to support pet owners through increasing access to community programs, education, and resources—while advocating for homeless pets and the organizations that serve them. Though we do not shelter or rescue animals ourselves, we proudly support those who do.

Our vision is to inspire positive change through partnerships and collaboration with experts, organizations, businesses and individuals, so that all animals in our community are cared for, respected, valued and protected.

MICROCHIPPING

AACC offers free microchipping events throughout Calhoun County each year.  Without a microchip, many dogs and cats may become strays and end up in local shelters or rescues where their future outcome is uncertain.  Every pet that is microchipped has a much greater chance of being reunited with its family if it is ever lost.

PET FOOD PROGRAM

AACC's Pet Food Program helps families and individuals that are facing financial or personal hardship keep their pets fed and cared for. With help from community donations and grants, we provide dog and cat food along with basic supplies to local Food Banks, as well as to those local homeless shelters and domestic abuse shelters that allow dogs to stay with their owners while at the shelters.  Our goal is to support our community's pet owners when they need it most.

DOG HOUSE INITIATIVE

We build and deliver sturdy, weather-resistant dog houses to outdoor pets in need. This effort helps ensure dogs have a safe, comfortable space—especially during extreme weather.
